Bakeplus

Bakeplus optimizes its ICT infrastructure for improved efficiency and customer satisfaction
An optimized ICT infrastructure, enabling Bakeplus to deliver on its promise of high-quality service and efficiency to customers in the confectionery and food industry.
What began with the merger of several family businesses grew over the years into a wholesaler and importer of significance. With now over 100 employees, three distribution centers and its own fleet of vehicles, Bakeplus supplies raw materials and (semi-)manufactured products and related items to confectioners, bakers, pastry chefs and ice cream makers.
Bakeplus sets a clear promise: to offer a wide range of products that meet the highest quality standards; a smooth online purchasing process and a customer-oriented logistics apparatus that follows this high level of service. For this purpose, Bakeplus collaborates with prominent parties and brings them together through its online platform. The decision to implement post-merger automation has proven to be the right choice for good reason.
Customer convenience and online information
Bakeries must be supplied with their raw materials at the right time. A good provision of information is crucial in this, which is why Bakeplus uses online prominently. For the customer, this mainly means ease of ordering and a quick way to get advice and information from the Bakeplus staff. Meanwhile, Bakeplus has an online platform where customers and suppliers meet. This particular online position did not emerge overnight.
For Bakeplus, after the merger, it was clear that they needed to undergo an automation transformation. The strategic choice allowed Bakeplus to better integrate processes through ICT and implement a Warehouse Management System (WMS) in addition to the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Such investments begin with setting up a reliable business network. The ERP environment was housed in an external data center. By outsourcing automation, Bakeplus wanted to reduce the risk of problems and increase the assurance of continuity.
The wave of automation brought a lot. To begin with, Bakeplus’ system had to be moved to a data center. During the move, of course, connectivity between the data center and the various sites had to be maintained. At the time, iunxi thoroughly mapped out the requirements and wishes, then designed the corporate network and connected all branches redundantly. This was based on fiber optics with DSL as a backup facility to continue working with the ERP in case of a disaster. This system was duplicated and placed in two data centers.

Successful together for years
Later, iunxi also helped migrate office automation to the cloud. Currently, iunxi’s network specialists monitor and maintain Bakeplus’ ICT infrastructure 24×7. For Bakeplus, it’s reassuring to know that there is a technical partner on standby to take immediate action when needed. Bakeplus’ own IT staff deals with the internal operations and thinks about further digital development of Bakeplus. The pragmatic and down-to-earth approach of iunxi fits well with Bakeplus and therefore both parties can trust each other blindly. That aligns perfectly with Bakeplus’ mission: Successful together for optimal results.
